Young people have been arming themselves with sticks and hurley bats for organised fights around the Valley Park and Longlands areas of Newtownabbey.
Police say they have received reports of up to 20 young people fighting around the Bawnmore, Longlands, Rathcoole and Church Road areas.
And they say if they detect youths gathering to take part in organised fights, it will be robustly dealt with.
“The message is clear and should not be misconstrued. Young people be clear, a criminal record will not allow the long distance trips you dream of to take place.
“Future careers hang in the balance and you need to seriously consider your own behaviour if you were involved in this,” said a police spokesperson.
Police have also thanked the people who took the time to make the calls to alert them.
And this evening police say they will be patrolling greater north Belfast following reports last night of multiple organised fights in and around the Deerpark area.
They say they have cameras in their vehicles.
And they’re asking parents to make sure they know where their children are in the evenings.
“Too many kids have been taken home drunk much to the shock of their parents who thought they were at friends’ houses,” added a police spokesperson.
