Around 300 teenagers from the Larne and Carrickfergus areas met up for an ‘end of year’ school party amid the coronavirus crisis.
That’s despite widespread warnings of social gatherings following the spread of Covid-19.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Police Team had to disperse the young people.
They say ‘school is not out for summer – it’s out for survival!’
“95% of the young people we encountered were polite, respectful and headed home when we explained the dangers of social gatherings,” said a police spokesperson.

Observe social distancing practices.
Wash your hands regularly.

And most of all don’t put yourself or others at risk.
Nine new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Northern Ireland yesterday, bringing the total number to 86.
To date, one person who tested positive has sadly died.
Health Minister Robin Swann warned an estimated 15,000 coronavirus deaths could be possible in Northern Ireland in a worst-case ‘nightmare” scenario’, if people do not adhere to social distancing.
