Woman in 80s in ‘stable’ condition after being hit by a car

A woman in her 80’s is in a stable condition in hospital after she was hit by a car in Newtownards.

The incident happened on the Bangor Road this afternoon (Thursday, January 17). The road has now re-opened.


A man aged in his 50s who was arrested in relation to the incident, is currently in police custody.

Sergeant Morris-Dickson said the woman’s condition is now described as stable at this time.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage available to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 776 17/1/19,” added the Sergeant.
