Cara’s scoops Elf On The Shop Shelf holiday prize

An eight-year-old girl has won £2,000 of holiday vouchers through the Eurospar’s ‘Elf on the Shop Shelf’ campaign.

Cara Neeson scooped the coveted prize after spotting the elf hiding on the shelf of Creighton’s of Finaghy in the initiative sponsored by Golden Cow.

Selected from thousands of entries, Cara’s mum Sheena said she was pleased to have been selected as the winner and was looking forward to putting the holiday vouchers to good use.

“Like most children, my daughter Cara was very excited about Elf on the Shop Shelf and couldn’t wait to get back to Creighton’s EUROSPAR and search for him in the run up to Christmas.

“I feel very thankful now that I gave in to her pester power and we can’t wait to use the prize and head off on a family holiday. Some people have suggested that we should go to the North Pole to visit the Elf but I think we’ll settle for somewhere a bit warmer!” she said.

The competition took place right across Northern Ireland and saw participating EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA supermarkets hide the popular children’s character, Elf on the Shelf, in a different location each day throughout November and December.

Children were then tasked with spotting the elf and entered by uploading an image online or via the in store application.

In addition to the overall winner, two runners-up have each won a top of the range bicycle – Clare Summer from Newtownards and Sharon Davis from Warrenpoint, thanks to promotion sponsor, Golden Cow.

Conor Toland, Marketing Manager for Henderson Retail, owners of the EUROSPAR brand in Northern Ireland, said it was pleasing to see the campaign drive such positive results.

“We received over 21,000 combined in store and online entries, increased average footfall in our stores and grew our online presence significantly,” he added.

“Most importantly however, was the positive feedback from our shoppers telling us how much their children enjoyed coming to our EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA stores throughout December and taking part in the search for the elf.

“December-time is typically hectic for retail but we feel the campaign brought some festive cheer to our shoppers and we hope to grow this even further in 2019,” he added.
