A man was confronted by two men demanding that he hand over his wallet, watch and headphones as he walked along Sunnyside Street in south Belfast on Monday night.
One of the men had a knife, according to police. The incident happened at around 10.40pm.
Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following the report of the robbery.
Police say the man was walking along Sunnyside Street, towards the embankment when he was confronted by two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife. They demanded that he hand over his wallet, watch and headphones, which he did.
One of the men punched the victim – however it is believed he did not sustain any injuries.
Both suspects made off in the direction of Sunnyside Street.
The first suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, of a heavy build, approximately 5ft 9″ tall, with a stubble type ginger beard. He was wearing blue jeans, blue Nike shoes, and a navy hooded jacket with the hood up and gloves.
The second suspect is described as also being in his mid-20s, of slim build, approximately 5ft 9″ tall and he was wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up and gloves.
Detective Sergeant Conlan is appealing for help in tracing those responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Sunnyside Street and witnessed this incident, or anyone who has information that could assist us with our enquiries, to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1494 25/03/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” he added.
