Paint was thrown over a Somme commemoration mural in the Avenue Road area of Lurgan in what police are treating as a hate crime.
It’s believed the incident occurred overnight.
In a statement the Avenue Road Somme Society said: This memorial is for the men and women, British and Irish. It doesn’t stop any of us remembering our heroes. The support received regarding our towns memorial is phenomenal. Tell your friends tell your neighbours, come visit the wall, and show these uneducated fools what these soldiers meant to us all.”
Chief Inspector O’Connor said: “This incident is perceived as a hate crime and I am appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch with police by calling 101, quoting reference 902 10/06/19.”
