Girls responding to a modelling agency call on Facebook have been asked to send indecent images of themselves to a scam page called ‘The Style Academy.’
Police are now urging people to carry out their own research before sending photographs and report anything inappropriate to Facebook.
They are keen to point out that this scam company shares the same same as the legitimate modelling agency known as ‘The Style Academy Model Agency Ltd’ which is completely above board.
“We would like to highlight an issue that we have recently been made aware of involving people using Facebook pages purporting to be legitimate modelling agencies,” said a police spokesperson.
And they say that girls who have been applying for work, have been asked to provide compromising and indecent images of themselves.
“We feel the need to highlight the seriousness of these pages as young women can be subject to both blackmail and the exploitation from these images.
“If you have been targeted by these pages please report them to Facebook to have them removed and contact us on 101,” said a police spokesperson.
