Concerns have been expressed over the future of the Larne branch of Dunnes Stores, with the potential loss of jobs.
Rumours suggest the Irish chain will further reduce its outlets in Northern Ireland, with the east Antrim store being the latest victim.
The store has been a feature in Larne for decades offering a range of food, clothing and homeware.
Dunnes has closed several other stores around Northern Ireland in recent years.
The retailer closed the Connswater store in east Belfast in 2015. Stores in Bangor, Antrim, Ballymoney and Portadown have also shut.
However, several branches have extended their floor space. The Forestside branch in south Belfast was given a makeover, as was the Abbeycentre branch in Newtownabbey.
And according to Checkout.ie, Dunnes has taken the top place as Ireland’s leading retailer for the 12th consecutive period, growing at 6.4% and claiming 21.6% market share, in the 12 weeks to 11 August this year.
