A masked man armed with a knife escaped with cash from licensed premises last night in Newtownards (Tuesday).
He demanded money from a female member of staff, before making off towards the town centre. The woman was not injured but was left badly shaken.
Detectives are appealing for information following the incident which happened in the Movilla Street area just before 8pm.
Detective Sergeant Westbury said the man is described as being between 5ft 8″ and 5ft 10″ in height and of slim build. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top, a balaclava and black gloves.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1632 14/01/20.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added Detective Sergeant Westbury.
