Two young men were reportedly seen throwing large stones at passing vehicles in Seaforde, Co Down, just before 7am this morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of antisocial behaviour in the Newcastle Road area. They say this was a reckless act which could have resulted in loss of life.
Inspector Kelly Gibson said police received a report this morning, just after 6.50am, that two young men were throwing stones at vehicles.
“Officers attended, but there was no sign of the pair.
“This was a reckless act. And, while the culprits probably considered it amusing, the consequences could have been very different. This could all too easily have resulted in injury or even loss of life,” she said.
“I am appealing, in the first instance, to those responsible to think about the potential impact of such actions.
“I am also asking anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 252 of 26/05/20,” she added.
