An 18-year-old man has been arrested following an armed robbery at a shop at Summerhill Avenue in east Belfast this afternoon (Saturday 6 June) just before 3pm.
According to police, a man carrying a screwdriver, entered the shop and threatened staff. He demanded they open the till, however he left empty handed when they refused.
The man is believed to have been wearing a grey tracksuit with a hooded top and he had a black scarf covering his face.
An 18-year-old man, matching the description was arrested a short distance away and has been taken to Musgrave Police Station for questioning.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference 896 06/06/20.
