A female pedestrian is in a critical condition in hospital following a collision with a car in west Belfast.
The incident happened at around 6.15pm yesterday (Friday) on the Stewartstown Road in Belfast close to Suffolk Day Centre and it involved a black Nissan Leaf.
Police are investigating the serious collision.
The driver of the car, a 49-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily injury. He has since been released on bail to return at a future date.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital where her condition is described as critical.
