COVID-19 outbreak at Moy Park in Ballymena

A ‘very small number of employees’ have tested positive for COVID-19 at Moy Park in Ballymena.

Fewer than one per cent of the 1,400-strong workforce at the food firm are affected.

Health Minister Robin Swann said the Public Health Agency (PHA) was working with Moy Park. He said that the term ‘outbreak’ refers to two or more people affected.

“It’s important we do not engage in speculation,” Mr Swann said. “We have always said we will expect outbreaks and clusters as we start to ease restrictions, but what we really need is for people to interact with test track and tracing so we can manage them.”

Those affected in Moy Park are self-isolating on full pay in line with the company sick pay scheme, said the food firm.
