A Ballyclare man has ignited a political debate on Twitter, ending in Amazon apologising for confusing the status of Northern Ireland within the United Kingdom.
In response to a question, Chris Jones was told that a programme was “only available to subscribers in the UK.”
Chris had enquired about watching a rugby match via the Amazon Prime service.
“We apologise but upon reviewing your location you’re in Northern Ireland. Rugby Autumn Nations Cup coverage is exclusively available to Prime members based in the UK. We don’t have the rights to other territories,” the company said in a tweet.
However, when Chris pointed out the error, the company replied: “Many apologies but, we don’t have the broadcast rights for Ireland or other territories,” the second reply said.
Following hilarious replies by celebrities, Amazon apologised for the error.
