The PSNI has had to close Divis Road heading toward the mountain due to the large influx of people.
The National Trust is asking people to stay local and follow government guidelines as COVID-19 cases rise.
Police had put in place a checkpoint on the main arterial route toward the north coast to deter day trippers heading to Portrush and Portstewart.
The message is STAY AT HOME.
Due to the large number of people visiting Divis Mountain, the PSNI have taken the decision to temporarily close Divis Road. Please do not travel there today. Stay local and follow government guidance to keep everyone safe.
