A woman in her 80s woke to find her car being stolen in west Belfast.
The incident happened around 5:40am this morning (Monday).
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the theft of the silver Ford Fiesta in the St James’ area.
Detective Fairfield said the woman in her 80s, woke to find her car being driven away. A spare car key was stolen as well as the victim’s handbag.
“Subsequently the vehicle crashed a short time later destroying a garden wall and damaging a parked vehicle. The suspect then made off on foot towards the Donegall Road.
“The suspect is described as wearing a North Face jacket, shorts and is approximately 17-years-old.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or who may have dash cam footage to contact detectives at Musgrave station quoting reference number 314 19/07/21.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” said Detective Fairfield.
