Tourists will only be able to travel to Spain from next month if they can show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, throwing Christmas holiday plans into chaos.
That means from 1 December, anyone arriving from the UK, including Northern Ireland, will require proof of vaccine.
That’s according to the Spanish government’s announcement on Saturday.
Spain has tightened travel restrictions due to the new Omicron variant.
A negative PCR test result will no longer be accepted.
“The appearance of new variants causing (coronavirus) obliges an increase in restrictions,” with regard to people from the UK and Northern Ireland,” said the announcement.
The new measure comes into force from Wednesday, December. 1.
This will not affect British people who are resident in Spain.
