Large groups of young people travelled into Magherafelt last night and ended up embroiled in fist fights and brawls.
Police say they found themselves having to deal with the two large groups of out of towners and they say any further violent aggressive behaviour will be met with CS Incapacitant Spray.
The incident happened in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
Magherafelt has frequently been a hotspot in the past for weekend disorder.
Similar brawls have broken out in recent years involving crowds of hundreds. Along with Cookstown, it is a popular nightspot, outside of Belfast.
Now police have issued some ground ‘rules’ for those visiting Magherafelt for entertainment purposes.
“If you attack others or engage in fighting and brawling you’re going to the cells – those lifted last night can let you know how that went for them,” said a spokesperson.
“If you attack us and ignore commands to get back don’t complain when you have a close encounter with a baton, they aren’t tickle sticks.
“Incapacitant spray is not something you want to sample but don’t kid yourself into believing it won’t be used. Violent aggressive behaviour will be met with with CS Incapacitant Spray,” added the spokesperson.
The PSNI spokesperson also said they operate zero tolerance towards anti-social behaviour.
“If you don’t get arrested on the night you can expect a follow up knock on your door.
“Stop being idiots and ruining others’ nights out, go and have a good night out without fighting. These brawls end in criminal records which in turn screw up your future life plans,” added the spokesperson.
