The new Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey is Councillor Paul Michael from the Ulster Unionist Party.
Alderman John Smyth from the DUP was elected as Deputy Mayor for the Borough.
Councillor Michael will be the First Citizen of the Borough for the 2018/2019 term and represents the Airport DEA.
He says he’s delighted to be elected as Mayor and adds that he’s looking forward to meeting all of the Borough’s residents, schools, local community and voluntary groups throughout the year ahead.
