A man armed with a suspected gun has escaped with a sum of money, a quantity of tobacco and cigarettes from a shop in north Belfast.
The armed robbery happened around around 8:45pm at a shop on the Crumlin Road last night (Thursday).
Detective Sergeant Gardiner said a man entered a shop armed with a suspected firearm.
“He demanded money from a male member of staff who was inside during the incident. The man then made off with a sum of money, a quantity of tobacco and cigarettes before making off towards the Silverstream Road area,” he added.
The man is described as being around 5ft 10″ of medium build. He was wearing a grey hooded top with white fur and an eagle design on the top. He was also wearing a black cap with three stripes on it, black bottoms and blue trainers with orange laces.
Detectives in north Belfast are appealing for information following the armed robbery.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1833 12/12/19. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added Detective Sergeant Gardiner.
