Police are warning people in Glengormley to be wary of people calling at doors claiming to be builders checking water pressure.
It follows a number of incidents in the Glengormley and Abbeyville areas over the past few days.
The PSNI is warning people not to be fooled by people wearing high viz vests and carrying clipboards.
“Pass the word around friends and family, have the conversations with elderly relatives – no one should be calling and looking access to your home without proper identification. If in doubt have them call back when friends or family are present,” says a PSNI officer.
Police are encouraging residents to look after elderly neighbours who are often the target of distraction techniques.
“Identification should always be asked for and entry refused where this is absent,” adds the officer.
