A man has tragically died while running the Belfast Marathon.

It is understood other participants performed CPR after he collapsed on the Sydenham bypass. The man’s death is the first tragedy at the Belfast Marathon for 30 years.

Around 17,000 people took part in the 36th Belfast Marathon.

However, the organisers say it could be the last time it is run because of new legislation.

In future organisers may have to pay for policing which would put a stop to the event enjoyed by many.
