A man has died following an incident yesterday (Monday) at Whitehead.
The emergency services were called to the area shortly after midday. The Coastguard, Fire Service, PSNI and the Air Ambulance were also dispatched to the scene. The Fire Service said specialist rescue team appliances attended from Whitehead, Carrickfergus, Larne and Belfast.
The body was recovered from the sea near Blackhead Lighthouse.
The path was closed last year after engineers reported it was unsafe.
Earlier this year, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council said a tendering process for repairs to the path was in progress.
