Ballymena assault: boy (15) released on bail

A 15-year-old boy arrested by detectives investigating an assault in Ballymena earlier this month has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police say a man and woman were walking in Paradise Avenue on 2 January when they were punched and kicked by a group of youths at around 9:50pm.


The man and woman were taken to hospital for treatment for face and head injuries.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested this morning and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

He is the second person to be arrested in connection with this incident. A 15-year-old boy who was previously arrested, was released on bail pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are ongoing in relation to this incident, which police are treating as a potential hate crime.
