Cash and jewellery has been stolen from the home of an 84-year-old woman in Cullybackey.
The house on the Ballyconnelly Road was burgled sometime on Tuesday (June 11).
Detective Sergeant Crothers said police received a report from a resident, that upon returning to their property, they discovered that entry had been forced to the house, sometime between 9.30am and 4pm, and a quantity of cash and jewellery was reported stolen.
Detectives in Larne are appealing for information.
“Police would again remind people to be mindful of their personal security. Please continue to look after elderly neighbours and remind them of the ‘Quick check’ scheme – which anyone can ring to check the identity of callers to your home. If your service provided will not allow access via 101 you can access by dialling the Police exchange on 02890650222,” added Detective Sergeant Crothers.
The advice from police is not to keep large amounts of cash or jewellery unsecured in your home.
“If you do have a safe installed in your home ensure that it is properly installed and correctly anchored to an immovable object (ie the ground and/or structural wall). Try to avoid setting patterns as to your comings and goings from your property.
“I would appeal for anyone with information or who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area or to contact detectives at Larne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1184 11/6/19. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” added Detective Sergeant Crothers.
