Buggy Club NI has raised a total of £1,849.97 for the NSPCC Northern Ireland.
The cash was raised through its Christmas Challenge event.
The event, hosted by Athletics Northern Ireland, involved participants challenging themselves to run a virtual 5k, 10k or half marathon.
The event took place on Sunday 20 December.
Based in Belfast, Buggy Club NI is a twice-weekly session for parents and babies to socialise and get training and is open to anyone returning to sport after having children or those who feel like taking up a fun, new hobby.
The club has grown over the years into a strong, supportive community and during the lockdown last year, it took to Facebook for virtual sessions, supporting parents and babies in their own homes.
Buggy Club NI coach Heather Ardis said they were absolutely delighted to host the Christmas Challenge event which raised £1,849.97.
“It was a lot of fun and great to see everyone coming together to raise much-needed funds for NSPCC Northern Ireland, which has continued to be there for children throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” she added.
Susan Smith, Fundraiser at NSPCC Northern Ireland, added: “We are thrilled that Buggy Club NI chose NSPCC Northern Ireland to benefit from this original event, especially as we enter 2021, facing more lockdown restrictions in Northern Ireland which will no doubt have an impact on our lives and children’s lives too.
“We would like to extend our thanks to Buggy Club NI and Athletics Northern Ireland for organising and hosting their wonderful Christmas Challenge event. We are so grateful for the funds raised, which will help make a real difference. Together, we can make 2021 a better year for children.”
