Cheryl and Liam Payne announce split

Cheryl and Liam Payne have announced their ‘tough decision’ to end their relationship. Fans woke up this morning to the news, many in disbelief.

The couple have a one-year-old son Bear together and have agreed to remain amicable.

The former Girls Aloud singer took to Twitter to tell fans the news.

She tweeted: We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family.

Cheryl asked for fans to respect the privacy of the family.

The couple were plagued by rumours of a possible split earlier this year, with Liam admitting they had been through a “tense patch”.

Reports back in February stated that Payne claimed his solo career was putting a strain on their already difficult relationship due to the travelling.

However they put on a united front at the BRIT Awards – this was the first time they had been pictured together for four months.

The Sun states that the break-up happened several weeks ago with Liam having moved out of the family home.

Cheryl who’s 34, and Liam first met when he auditioned in front of her on The X Factor back in 2009.

He then went on to become a best selling artist thanks to his stint in boy band One Direction. Liam is now a successful solo artist.

The pair became an item while Cheryl was going through a messy divorce to second husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in 2016. They made their red carpet debut together in May of that year.

Liam and Cheryl welcomed baby Bear on March 22, 2017.

Sources close to the couple say the split is amicable and there is no third party involved.
