A child who was watching a cartoon on YouTube has been subjected to ‘inappropriate content’.
Police have been contacted by a concerned parent in Northern Ireland whose child was enjoying an innocent cartoon, and was subsequently re-directed to the offensive material.
They are now warning parents to be aware of some of the content on YouTube.
This incident has been reported to the platform.
Parents should be aware that there is a children’s version of YouTube.
Regardless of the site, police are reminding parents to pay close attention to what their children are watching online.
Earlier this year, it emerged that young YouTube viewers stood an alarmingly high chance of stumbling across disturbing videos.
According to a study, there is a 45 per cent probability of children reaching inappropriate content within 10 clicks of a first, child-oriented YouTube video.
