Children are putting themselves and others in danger by setting off fireworks at ASDA petrol station in Ballyclare.
Groups of around 30 young people have been terrorising residents with their anti-social behaviour in the Ballyclare War Memorial Park, the Six Mile Leisure Centre and Asda car parks.
Police say their behaviour is ‘intimidating’ and they are appealing to parents to be aware of where their children are at all times.
“Over the past few nights we have received numerous calls for service in relation to kids setting off fireworks at these locations, as well as others in the Newtownabbey and Antrim areas.
“It’s been said many times before and it should go without saying, but this kind of behaviour is extremely intimidating and worrying for the local residents. Especially when in groups of 30. The most concerning issue reported tonight (Saturday) is that these children are setting fireworks off near to the fuel station at Asda,” said a police spokesperson.
“This is not a condemnation of the parenting of these children, as I’m sure most are unaware of the trouble the kids are getting themselves into. I would urge anyone whose child is out in Ballyclare over this weekend to talk to their kids about the dangers they are presenting to themselves and members of the public.
“Look after each other. It would be a shame to see any injuries as a result of these reckless actions,” added the spokesperson.
