Concern has been expressed after 43 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified.
This is the highest daily increase since May which has led Health Minister Robin Swann to warn about complacency.
And pubs that do not serve food will not be permitted to open from Monday as previously planned. Opening has been delayed for almost a month with the R-rate currently more than 1.
Face coverings are set to become mandatory in enclosed spaces.
Meanwhile, passengers arriving in Northern Ireland from Andorra, Belgium and the Bahamas will be required to quarantine for 14 days. The countries have been removed from the travel corridors list due to a rise in cases. The rule comes into effect from 4am on Saturday (August 8).
