Health Minister Robin Swann has expressed concerns about complacency in relation to the rising number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Northern Ireland.
He said the appeals are ‘falling on too many deaf ears.’
Yesterday, 828 new cases of the coronavirus and once death were confirmed in Northern Ireland by the Department of Health.
“It beggars belief that some people would object to wearing face coverings – it’s just a piece of cloth, but it does make a difference,” he said.
Northern Ireland’s Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Ian Young meanwhile said the R-number – the rate that represents the number of individuals who, on average, will be infected by one person with COVID-19 – is currently around 1.5.
