A convicted murderer who absconded from Maghaberry Prison during an unescorted day release was arrested in the greater Belfast area early this morning (Sunday 18 November)

Mr McKinley (57) absconded from the Northern Ireland Prison Service during an unescorted day release on Thursday 15 November.
It’s not the first time he has absconded.
He is serving life for the murder of a man in Southampton in 1996. McKinley is originally from the Shankill area of Belfast and has connections to East Belfast and the Ards peninsula area.
Since 2002, he has absconded from day release or breached his pre-release/licence conditions on a number of occasions.
