Dark Hedges tree falls victim to gale force winds

A tree belonging to The Dark Hedges which featured in Game of Thrones has been toppled in last night’s strong winds.

Gale force winds of up to 60mph battered Northern Ireland overnight. Some of the trees at The Dark Hedges were previously damaged during Storm Hector which struck in June 2018.

The Dark Hedges are a tunnel of beech trees on the Bregagh Road near Armoy.

Game of Thrones fans from all over the world regularly travel to take photos of the trees which featured in Season Two of the drama.

The trees were planted at the entrance to the Stuart family’s Gracehill House mansion more than 200 years ago.
