A man aged in his 30s was injured after being assaulted by two men while he was on a night out with friends.
Police say the man was making his way home, minding his own business, when he was attacked without warning in Donegal Square East in Belfast at around 3:10am.
The incident happened on Sunday, January 6 – however police have just released details of the suspects.
The victim sustained extensive bruising and swelling as a result of the assault, although his injuries could have been far, far worse, police say.
The alleged attackers are described as being aged in their late teens, or early twenties, and of slim build. One of the suspects is described as having long, unkempt hair and he was wearing a white baggy, long-sleeve T-shirt, green/khaki baggy trousers and white shoes.
The second suspect is described as having short hair and he was wearing a dark-coloured flowery T-shirt, dark skinny trousers and light-coloured trainers. The second suspect was either carrying or wearing a yellow hooded top or jacket.
“We know from our CCTV that a group of people witnessed this assault, and one of them appeared to be recording it on their mobile device. We want to speak to these people as witnesses and would urge you to contact us,” said a police spokesperson.
And police have warned that they will share high quality footage of the incident.
“We are currently making our own enquiries, but will not rule out the possibility of sharing your image on social media to be identified under Op Exposure. So, I would urge you to contact us yourself if you believe we’re talking about you, and come meet us for an interview,” added the spokesperson.
