Three separate rescue operations have taken place in the Mourne Mountains today involving walkers who have fallen (Sunday, January 13).
And now, police are urging walkers to exercise extreme caution due to the strong winds.
The PSNI, along with other emergency services, are currently involved in three rescues.
Inspector Frances McCullough said as police continue to deal with these incidents, they are appealing to anyone thinking of venturing out for a walk on the mountains this afternoon, or indeed at any time, to think carefully before they head out.
“While weather conditions may seem okay when you start out on your journey, they can change very quickly as you venture upwards on the mountains,” said the Inspector.
And police are also urging walkers to let family know where they are going, what route they intend to take and how long they expect to be away.
Walkers should always carry identification with them and a phone that is fully charged, say police.
