Female staff member sustains ‘substantial’ facial injuries after man snatches ring from Abbey Centre jeweller

A female staff member sustained substantial facial injuries after she was attacked by a man who snatched a ring from a jeweller in the Abbey Centre in Newtownabbey.

It happened at approximately 9.15am on Tuesday.


Detectives are appealing for information following the robbery.

Detective Inspector Lenaghan said police received a report that a man had entered the premises and asked to see a ring.

“The man then snatched the ring before attacking a female member of staff, causing substantial injuries to her face. She has been taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries,” he said.

The suspect is believed to have been wearing grey jogging bottoms, a grey sweat top,  a dark baseball cap and he was carrying a dark coat.

He was wearing a mask and gloves at the time of the robbery and made off in the direction of Longlands Road.
