A fight is reportedly being organised tonight (Friday) between youths from Glengormley and other young people from North Belfast, with the planned use of weapons, including knuckledusters.
That’s according to police. They say they have received a report from a member of the public, and they say they taking this extremely seriously.
Police say they will not tolerate such behaviour.
“If youths are located with weapons or taking part in anti-social behaviour, we will be dealing with it robustly,” said a police spokesperson.
And they are appealing to parents of young people in Glengormley.
“Do you know where your kids are this evening? Are you 100% sure you trust that where they say they’re going, is actually where they’re going?
“Just because you left them off somewhere, doesn’t mean they’ll stay there.
“Please don’t have us call you from custody, or worse, hospital,” said the police spokesperson.
And police are warning that a criminal record can and will affect the young people’s future – employment and travel opportunities will be limited.
“I will be out and about with my colleagues, and will not tolerate this sort of behaviour. As residents, neither should you,” added the spokesperson.
