Five poppy wreaths burned in Ballymena ‘sectarian hate crime’

Five poppy wreaths at the War Memorial at Galgorm Road in Ballymena have been destroyed after being set on fire.

Police are treating this incident as a sectarian motivated hate crime.


It happened last night (Friday 20 March) shortly before 11pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any information that can assist with their enquiries to contact officers in Ballymena on 101 quoting reference 1840 20/03/20.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
