The UK’s first 5G service has launched in Belfast. It is one of six cities to benefit from the next-generation technology courtesy of EE.
More cities will join 5G later in the year.
It is expected to offer internet speeds several times faster than 4G which will accommodate people who like to download movies. A full season of a TV show can be downloaded in minutes and games can be played with virtually no lag.
However, only four handsets are 5G ready.
Contract prices will also be higher, but as competition increases, prices will likely come down. Vodafone will be introducing its service across seven cities in July.
