George Best Belfast City Airport is flying high after being ranked the most punctual in 2018.
The figures show that scheduled and chartered departures from Belfast City were delayed by an average of eight minutes – this is the lowest of 24 major airports across the UK.
The Press Association analysis of Civil Aviation Authority statistics shows that passengers travelling via Belfast International Airport were left waiting on average 15 minutes – almost twice as long as the City.
It came out joint seventh worst for delays.
London Stansted was the worst UK airport for flight delays last year with an average waiting time of 25 minutes.
Stansted blamed ‘adverse weather and air traffic control issues.’
The airport is the fourth busiest in the UK.
Birmingham and London Luton, with average delays of 19 minutes, had the joint second worst performance.
