A number of grammar schools have already indicated that they will not use the AQE transfer test this year to admit pupils.
A single test is scheduled to be held on Saturday 27 February, as a result of the changing situation with regard to COVID-19.
Belfast Royal Academy (BRA) and the Royal School Dungannon are two of the schools which have said the test will not be used to admit pupils.
In a letter, BRA’s governors said that while they supported academic selection, a transfer test would not be used to select pupils this year.
The school will be applying its contingency admissions criteria which will be published on Monday.
Stormont ministers are meeting today (Friday) to discuss AQE’s decision to proceed with the transfer test.
