Ballyclare-based Hagan Homes is sponsoring Tiffany Brien to the tune of £3.5k as she takes on The Great Rugby Cycle 2019.
This is a charity cycling event that will raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charity, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Running from Monday 4th to March 20, the initiative will cover 1,238 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
Tiffany and six other cyclists will be joined along the way by rugby legends, sports stars and celebrities from TV and film to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation.
My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was launched in November 2017 to carry out research into the causes of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and investigate potential cures and to support those affected by the devastating disease.
James Hagan, Founder and Chair of Hagan Homes, said they are delighted to be supporting Tiffany Brien.
“Doddie Weir, the former Scotland, British and Irish Lions rugby player, revealed he was suffering from Motor Neurone Disease and from the outset he sought to help fellow sufferers and further research into this, as yet, incurable disease,” he explained.
He said Hagan Homes has a long track record of supporting local rugby teams.
“Doddie’s story struck a chord with us. Motor Neurone Disease has a massive impact on individuals, their family and friends and we feel that this charity has the potential to make a difference,” he added.
And Tiffany said she was honoured to be part of the team travelling the length of the UK raising funds for such a worthy cause.
“It will be a challenge both physically and mentally but one we are all prepared to take on in the hope of raising lots of money for Doddie.
“A huge thank you to Hagan Homes for their support – it means a lot to not just myself but the rest of the team,` she said.
