Three men, one of whom was armed with a knife, hijacked a car in Newtownards and ordered the driver to take them to Bangor.
The driver of the car was not injured during this incident, however he was left very badly shaken by the ordeal.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of the hijacking which occurred in the Comber Road area of Newtownards on Thursday (11 July) at around 11.30pm.
Police say as the driver approached the junction of Blenheim Drive and Comber Road, three men approached his vehicle. One of the men, who was carrying a knife ordered the driver to take them to Bangor. The driver was then forced to take the men to the Rathgill estate in Bangor.
Detective Sergeant McKee is asking anyone with information to come forward.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or saw these three men alight from this vehicle in the Rathgill estate to contact police at Bangor on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 2398 11/07/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added the Detective Sergeant.
