Items seized following Lurgan searches

A number of items have been taken away for forensic examination following searches in the Lurgan area today in relation to an investigation into violent dissident republican activity.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon District Commander, Superintendent Wendy Middleton said detectives from the PSNI Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) conducted the planned searches.

Earlier, petrol bombs were thrown at police during disorder in the town.

The PSNI advised motorists to avoid the Levin Road area of Kilwilkie.

“I want to appeal to anyone who has information which could assist our investigation to contact us on 101 or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” added Superintendent Wendy Middleton.
