Work will begin next week on a new £3.5m service station at Toome, creating around 30 jobs.
Fifty new construction and operational jobs will also be created during the process.
The service station will be situated at the Brecart Roundabout.
This follows the opening of the A6 upgrade between Randalstown and Toome last month and represents another exciting milestone for the area.
Northern Ireland contractor MSM Contracts has been appointed to deliver this scheme which is expected to be completed by March 2020.
The investment of £3.5 million into developing the service station will bring much needed services to the area.
Up to 30,000 vehicles pass along this stretch of the road daily.
Canice Mallaghan, representing Moorefield said they are excited to see work begin.
“As a key travel corridor connecting Belfast to the North West of the region, the service station will meet the needs of the many commuters who travel this road frequently in both directions, as well as providing a much-needed service for those working in the freight and haulage industry,” she added.
“The development of this new service will be a key asset on this new stretch of the road which has already made a huge difference in travel times and vastly improved connectivity between Belfast and the North West.”
Robert Mackey Managing Director of MSM Contracts said the new road is already of benefit to commuters.
“We will be working in partnership with the developers to ensure the project is delivered and exceeds the expectation of those road users who will avail of the service station when complete,” he added.
