Man (32) due in court after suspected firearms were found in Carrickfergus

A 32-year-old man is due in court this morning on charges arising out of a policing operation in Carrickfergus.

He is set to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday 22 January) charged with offences, including six counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and three counts of possession of a firearm with intent.


As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges are in relation to the recovery of suspected firearms, imitation firearms and a quantity of ammunition yesterday (Tuesday) during a proactive policing operation in the central Carrickfergus area.
