A 35-year-old man was assaulted at a flat in the Whitewell area of Newtownabbey by a gang, believed to have been armed with a wooden bat.
The man was kicked and punched during the incident which happened at Whitewell Road last night. The man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries, which were not believed to be life threatening.
Detectives are appealing for information following the aggravated burglary which happened last night (Tuesday 26 May).
Detective Sergeant Will Arnott said shortly after 8:40pm, it was reported that four unknown men forced entry to a flat in the area.
“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1965 26/05/20.
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added Detective Sergeant Will Arnott.
