A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged sale and distribution of unauthorised TV set top boxes used to unlawfully stream premium services.
Detectives based in Newry searched three properties on Wednesday.
During the operation police seized a substantial amount of cash as well as electronic devices, believed to be for use in the illegal distribution of premium TV services.
Detective Sergeant James Johnston said the use of such pirate television services may seem by many to be a victimless crime – however this activity puts jobs within that sector at risk, with an inferior product that can often fund other forms of criminality.
“In preparing our investigation we have worked closely with our associates in the anti-piracy divisions of industry partners. Our work continues and we would appeal for anyone with information regarding such activity to contact police on 101,” he added.
