A man armed with a knife fled with a sum of money following a robbery at a shop in Newtownards.
The incident happened at a shop on High Street in the town last night (Sunday, 18 July) just before 10pm.
Detective Sergeant Westbury said the man made his way behind the counter where he threatened a staff member with a knife and demanded money.
The suspect fled the shop with a sum of money and made off on a dark coloured bicycle in the direction of Conway Square.
He is described as being aged in his mid-20s, approximately 5ft 10” to 5ft 11” in height, of a slim build with dark fair hair. He was wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes on the sides and light grey trainers.
“While, thankfully, the staff member was physically unharmed, this was a terrifying experience for them,” said Detective Sergeant Westbury
