A 26-year-old man arrested by police investigating criminal damage at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ballyclare has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The man was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and is currently assisting police with their enquiries. A 35-year-old woman was also cautioned for assisting an offender as part of the investigation.
Paint was thrown over the exterior walls of the church on the Doagh Road early on Sunday morning.
The man was arrested this morning (Monday).
Inspector Tate said police would like to thank the community for their assistance and they are continuing to appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 438 21/4/19.
Meanwhile, a house on the Doagh Road has been burgled. The incident happened sometime on Friday, April 19.
It is believed that the burglary took place between 2pm and 6pm. The occupant returned home to find that jewellery and a sum of money had been taken.
Detective Constable McGarry is appealing to anyone with information, or anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, to get in touch by calling 101, quoting reference number 1162 of 19/04/19.
